Daria Svertilova (UA/FR, b. 1996) currently lives and works between Paris and Kyiv. She graduated from Paris’ École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs with an MA in Photography & Video in 2023. Svertilova’s work explores the connections between the past and the present, primarily focusing on youth culture and the social and political contexts which surround it. Using photography as her tool, Svertilova aims to create a sincere yet subtle portrait of her generation.
In the Irreversibly Altered series, Svertilova is both a witness and an actor. Having left Kyiv before the full-scale invasion, she shot these images during return visits between 2022 and 2023, capturing an entirely new reality.
